"Unfortunately we did not qualify anyone or any teams for sectional but we ran well," stated Karen Clark, one of the coaches for the team. " We were limited to seven team members for each the varsity Boys and varsity girls races. All of the runners had some of their best times and many ran their personal bests."

Brooks finished the 3-mile course in 17 minutes, 7 seconds, for 31st place on a wet and sometimes muddy course. The temperature was chilly and the sky overcast.

Also scoring for the Ridgewood boys were Chris Bowles, 42nd, 17:29; James Brooks, 51st, 17:55; Jonathan Walsten, 59th, 18:19; and Anthony Brown, 64th, 18:40.

Other Spartans on the course were Jason Beam, 67th, 18:52, and John Desutter, 70th, 18:59.

Among the girls, Stevenson clocked 23:19 for 56th place, while Kallie Esp was 64th at 24:13; Kendall McKie, 68th, 24:52; Faith Gates, 76th, 27:20; Emily McDowell, 78th, 28:54; and Madison Miller, 79th, 28:57.

Alleman topped the team standings in the boys race with 38 points, followed by Sterling Newman, 70; Rock Falls, 90; Bureau Valley, 106; Erie-Prophetstown, 154; Mid-County, 163; Chillicothe Illinois Valley Central, 188; Wethersfield, 207; Ridgewood, 226; and Amboy, 235.

In the girls race, Rock Falls finished first with 35 points, ahead of Wethersfield, 97; Alleman, 110; Erie-Prophetstown, 117; Princeville, 140; IVC, 161; Mid-County, 173; Bureau Valley, 179; Amboy, 217; Newman, 250; Kewanee, 253; Orion, 310; and Ridgewood, 334.

"All of the boys finished in under 19 minutes," said Clark. "A true accomplishment. The team enjoyed a trip to Angelo's Pizza in Sterling for the pizza/pasta buffet-what seems to be becoming an annual traditons."
