MACOMB — The city council is expected to approve a new three year contract with the Macomb Area Convention and Visitors Bureau when it meets Monday evening. The MACVB would receive 78 percent of the city's annual hotel/motel tax revenue.
Aldermen are also expected to hear first reading of the 2018-2019 city budget. The new budget would take effect May 1.
In related action, the council will hear first reading of an ordinance amending the city fee schedule by increasing the monthly water debt service fee from $2 to $5 and by increasing the monthly garbage fee from $18.26 to $19.26. The amended ordinance would also take effect May 1.
Aldermen may vote to award a construction contract for street overlay work on North Randolph Street from Calhoun Street to University Drive, and to approve a request from Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity to place a granite bench in Chandler Park in honor of Civil Rights leader C.T. Vivian, who grew up in Macomb. The city council may also vote to approve a special event liquor license for the West Central Illinois Arts Center show, "When Patsy Met Hank."
An ordinance for approval of a liquor license for Los Tapatios restaurant is also on the city council agenda. The restaurant will be located at the site of the former Guadalajara on East Jackson Street.
Final action is anticipated on six other city ordinance amendments and on approval of keeping certain executive session minutes closed. The council meeting is scheduled to begin at 5:15 p.m. on the second floor of Macomb City Hall.
