MACOMB — There are 60 vendors registered so far for Heritage Days next week. The committee was told Tuesday that 15 of them would be serving food or drinks. Jan Armstrong said she anticipates additional vendor signups this week.
Parade coordinator Megan Winters said there are 73 entries and she anticipates 30 more for the June 23 event. She said that, after parade dignitaries and Macomb city representatives, entries would be generally in the order that they registered.
Winters said parade entries are to line up between 8:30 and 9 a.m. and the parade would begin at 10 a.m. She said WGEM-TV would not provide live coverage of the parade this year. It will be recorded and played back on Channel 10 at noon.
Jock Hedblade of the Macomb Area Convention and Visitors Bureau said radio and television commercials promoting Heritage Days would start running on Friday. He said that Chandler Park would be marked off for vendor locations next Tuesday and Wednesday, and that the MACVB and committee headquarters during the festival would be the park gazebo.
Heritage Days committee co-chair Rachel Lenz said the Macomb Rotary Club would coordinate trash removal, with a 2 p.m. start on Friday and Saturday with hourly cleanup. Armstrong said there are nine window displays up in downtown stores.
Hedblade said The Ritz has offered to provide a "green room" for performers waiting to go onstage at the festival. He said there would be a disc jockey playing music for the Saturday car show. Coordinator Jeremy Kitch said that Woodrum Automotive and Steinjager Jeep would be car show sponsors. He said there would be a Friday night car cruise June 22 in honor of longtime car show committee coordinator Jim Huff.
