Sarah Jane Westen, 84, of Macomb, Illinois, passed away at 3:01 p.m. Thursday, March 15, 2018 at OSF St. Francis Hospital in Peoria, Illinois.
She was born May 27, 1933 in Sidney, Ill., to Alfred and Willetta Franklin Mullen; she married Brodie Westen on Feb. 3, 1960 in Champaign, Illinois. He survives.
Also surviving are her children, Curt (Sue) Westen of Castle Rock, Colorado, Kristi (Jim) Dakin of Macomb, Illinois, Joe (Beth) Westen of Macomb, Illinois, Stu (Ginger) Westen of Mukwonago, Wisconsin, Rob (Amy) Westen of Macomb, Illinois, Rich (Cheryl) Westen of Macomb, Illinois, Tony (Leslie) Westen of Macomb, Illinois; 14 grandchildren, Erik (Amber Clark) Dakin, Brodie Dakin, Lauren Westen, Caleb Westen, Max Dakin, Breeden Jones, Bryce Westen, Mason Westen, Zachary Westen, Delaney Westen, Dane Westen, Cade Westen, Zoey Westen, Abigail Westen; 2 great-grandchildren,  Larissa Clark, Jaxton Dakin; a brother, Jerry D. Mullen of Sidney, Illinois and brother-in-law Charles Westen of Franklin, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews also survive.
She was a graduate of the Julia F. Burnham School of Nursing and Director of Nursing at Burnham City Hospital at the time of their marriage. Member of Macomb Country Club, and Macomb BPOE Deer.
Brodie and Jane’s Family will celebrate their loving 58-year marriage, her close and loving relationships with children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was the biggest fan of her children and grand-children’s sporting events, and the ultimate coach’s wife loved by dozens of members of Brodie’s teams over the years. Her love of family and many dear friends in the community of Macomb, Illinois will always be cherished.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Wesley United Methodist Church. Mark Hendrickson will officiate. Visitation will be Monday from 4-7 p.m. at the Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home. Cremation will be accorded after the service. Burial of ashes will be in Oakwood Cemetery at a later date.
