Lena R. Gibson, 86, of Olney, died on Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at her residence. Lena was born on March 1, 1934 in Shawneetown, IL, the daughter of Theodore “Buck” and Martha Elizabeth (Lowe) Nelson. She married Paul Eugene Gibson on October 31, 1956 in Olney and he preceded her in death on June 1, 2014.

Lena worked at the shoe factory for many years and was a homemaker. Lena was a very strong-willed person and loved her grandchildren very much. She was very protective of her family. She raised her children while her husband was on the road, working as a truck driver. She liked to play cards and an old marble game known as "Aggravation". She had a very strong faith in God and was very outspoken. She always cared about others, and was willing to go without something, if that meant that she could help someone else. She liked watching game shows and CourtTV, especially Judge Judy. She was a very good cook. She will be missed dearly by all those that loved her, and her absence will leave a hole in the many lives that she touched.

Lena is survived by her daughter, Cherie Nelson of Olney; Grandchildren, Christopher Hardin, Jennifer Hardin, Tiffany Nix and husband Shawn, Magan Hardin and significant other Kyle, Joel Hardin, Hali Morgan, Nicole Schaich, Matthew Schaich and his wife Alexis, Dakota Byers and her husband Stephen, Caitlan Willison and her husband Jon, Madison Carlson and her husband Logan, Whitney Gibson, Caden Gibson, Riley Gibson, and Zeb Gibson; Several Great-Grandchildren; Daughter-in-law, Emily (Gibson) Hahn of Claremont, special furry friends, Bear, Joey, and Oakley.

She was preceded in death by her her parents; husband; sons, Jamie Gibson, "Jody" Daryl Gibson; daughters, Paula Morgan and Debra Gibson; brothers, Robert, Jesse, John, Elmer "Jerry", James, and Dennis, and sisters, Georgia Mae and Sharon Fain.

Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.

A private memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 30, 2020 at the Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney with a private family visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery.
