Barbara Jeanne Decker passed away at her home in Clermont, Florida on Tuesday, April 21. 2020. Born on August 12, 1938, Barbara was the daughter of Walter and Arline (Nelson) Arnstedt in Cambridge, Illinois. She attended classes in a one-room schoolhouse until 6th grade, when the students were consolidated into the Cambridge school system.
She graduated from CCHS in 1956 and continued her education at Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois, receiving a B.A. in 1960 with a major in history and a minor in Spanish, the first college graduate in the Arnstedt family. Barbara married Robert Wallace Decker on March 31, 1962. To this union three sons were born in four years. Their life was filled with school activities, mostly revolving around sports. She and Bob enjoyed weekend trips that were not always highly planned. After years of traveling to Florida for Christmas holidays and to Minnesota for vacations, Robert and Barbara divided their time in retirement between their home in Florida in the winter and a cabin in Minnesota in the summer. Barbara enjoyed reading, games, doing puzzles, crocheting, gardening, playing bridge, and baking.
