Amanda Fox pitches, bats Tribe to win

Thursday was a different day than Wednesday, and certainly for the better for Amanda Fox as the Pontiac left-hander delivered a complete-game performance to lead the Indians to a 6-2 victory over host Monticello in an Illini Prairie Conference softball game.
Fox didn’t get the decision Wednesday but had trouble with Prairie Central before the Tribe rallied for the victory.
On Thursday, Fox was in total control in allowing just four hits, no earned runs and striking out 14. She did throw 108 pitches.
Oh, and Fox also belted a home run to help her cause.
Using the third different lineup in as many days, the Indians were able to get Fox a run in the second inning and add to the lead the next frame.
Alyssa Fox walked to lead off the second and an error and sacrifice had her on third base. A wild pitch allowed the younger Fox to score with Madison Weber at the plate.
Madisyn Webster reached on an error to lead off the third inning and Amanda Fox followed with a blast over the center field fence for a 3-0 lead.
Pontiac plated four runs in the top of the sixth. Emma Jacobs and Alyssa Fox singled, and then Sydney Barnett lofted a sacrifice fly to drive in Jacobs. Regan Krause followed with a base hit that scored Fox and Maddi Stark was hit by a pitch one out later.
Krause scored when Webster reached on an error.
Jacobs had two hits and Amanda Fox had her homer and two RBIs for Pontiac (13-6). Krause had a hit and run batted in and Alyssa Fox had a hit.
JUNIOR VARSITY: Barnett allowed one earned run in pitching Pontiac to a 10-5 win in the JV contest. She struck out seven.
Monticello scored first but Pontiac took a 4-2 lead in the third inning. Three runs in the fourth inning was answered by the Sages in the bottom of the inning, but PTHS got those runs back in the fifth for the final difference.
Alyssa Fox had four hits, including two doubles. Peyton Trost had two hits and three RBIs and Maddi Stark had a double and single. Grace Myers had two hits, Audrey Sutton had a hit and RBI and Rebecca Rich doubled.
On Wednesday against Prairie Central, Pontiac erupted for seven runs in the third inning en route to a 10-1 win.
Addison Masching had three hits and drove in two runs while Trost had three hits and one RBI. Alyssa Fox had a hit and two RBIs and Myers collected a hit and RBI.
