A Dollar Just Doesn’t Go As Far These Days
Shoe prices started getting a little ridiculous back in the Michael Jordan era, but this is just insane: $50,000 for a pair of Nike “So Cals.” Laced Up, a company headquartered in Atlanta, is offering customized shoes, and their first offering is the So Cals, which are adorned with 11-carat diamonds that are stitched with gold to the shoes. Musician Big Boi of Outkast received the $50,000 shoes. -- Source: http://most-expensive.net
Tip of the Week: How to Set Up a Home Office
Score.org’s 60-second guide to setting up your home office:
0:60: Select the right spot: The space should be well-lit and properly ventilated, with enough room for furniture, supplies, storage compartments and other items you use on a regular basis.
0:45: Get connected: Your home office should also be equipped with sufficient electrical outlets to safely support your office equipment and appliances, as well as connections for your telephone, fax and Internet access.
0:38: Fine-tune the furnishings: Consider what kind of furniture you’ll need for your business, including file cabinets and printer stands. Then make sure it will fit.
0:23: Evaluate equipment: Follow the same process with the equipment you will use, whether it’s a computer and a fax or machining equipment.
0:14: Organize: You cannot afford to waste time tracking down misplaced tools or research information, especially when a deadline is near. And if customers visit your home office, an organized work environment will say a lot about you and the quality of your services.
0:02: Watch those taxes: The Internal Revenue Service will let you deduct expenses related only to that part of your home that you use exclusively and regularly for business. You may also deduct expenses for parts of your home used as a daycare facility or to store inventory you sell in your business. Consult the IRS Web site for more details.
Tech Tip: Test the Digital Camera
Buying a new digital camera that has more bells and whistles than the one you currently own? Unless you purchase a model roughly equivalent to the one you own, more than likely, the digital camera operation will be different. Familiarize yourself with the controls of the digital camera models as you look for a new one. Maybe a particular digital camera's controls are counter-intuitive. Perhaps you change ISO settings frequently, and a particular digital camera's method of doing so requires navigating menus or is generally confusing. Make sure you consider a camera that complements your work style. -- http://malektips.com/
