A three-alarm fire at 390 Cabot St. has closed Cabot Street and much of the Glouceser Crossing neighborhood.
Firefighters from at least four communities are battling a three-alarm blaze at 390 Cabot St., a three-story apartment building across from the 7-11 store.
The Beverly Fire Department requested the State Fire Marshal on the scene as of 1:40 p.m., terming the cause "suspicious" according to official emergency radio reports.
The fire started at approximately 12:45 p.m., said reporter Bobby Gates who filed a phone report and was on the scene before the first firefighters arrived.
Gates said firefighters had contained the blaze to 390 Cabot, but said the fire was "still out of control" as of 1:10 p.m.
"Heavy, heavy smoke is pouring out of the building," said Gates.
Firefighters believe all residents escaped safely and have reported no injuries thus far.
In addition to fire fighters from Beverly, Gates reported seeing firefighters from Danvers, Hamilton and Weham at the scene, saying the Danvers ladder truck had just pulled up at about 1:10 p.m.
"There is no cause known yet," said Gates. "The victims I spoke with were told to just get out."
